What’s a jade roller? What’s gua sha?
Both are smooth, cooling massage tools cut from pure crystal. They’re traditionally made of jade (the stone of beauty in Chinese medicine) but also come in rose quartz, amethyst, and other stones.
A jade roller is a gentle tool for lifting and smoothing the skin, and a gua sha tool is for sculpting your natural features and more vigorously improving circulation.
What are jade rollers and gua sha used for?
The purpose of both is to improve lymphatic drainage (reducing puffiness) and improve circulation in the face and neck.
The benefits of jade rollers (more gentle):
- Promote blood circulation
- Increase lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness
- Help serum sink deeper into skin
The benefits of gua sha (more sculpting):
- Relieve tension
- Contour and sculpt the face
- Promote blood circulation
- Break down scar tissue
- Lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness
- Faster healing
- Skin tightening
What will you learn?
I’ll walk you through a whole gua sha routine as well as show you how to use both a jade roller and a gua sha tool. We’ll also talk about techniques for specific problem areas, how to use a face oil for best results, tips and tricks for getting the most out of your jade roller/gua sha practice.
